Well, I didn't think it would take this long!
I have spent the last two years working at home as a part-time correspondent, covering Box Elder County. It was a good time to be at home: during that time I also got married again, moved and experienced a whole myriad of other adventures.
I love working at home. Who wouldn't love sacking out on the couch in front of Rachael Ray or Kathy Lee and Hoda, with a laptop, a pile of notes and a telephone? Even better....... taking that laptop outside on the patio and basking in the warmth of the sun while writing about some dry meeting the night before?
However, I always did miss being in the newsroom. And realistically, I am much more productive without my friends Rachael, Kathy & Hoda. So with that, and a few other events in my life, I have returned to the newsroom and I love it.
I returned to the Herald Journal in Logan, where I am working as a Cops & Courts reporter. I love that beat because I find the courtroom absolutely fascinating. And, I get to work with familiar, friendly faces again, like Lt. Lee Perry with UHP. He is a good egg and it is always fun to talk to him -- much like working with an old friend. There are also many new people to meet and establish good working relationships with, and I am looking forward to that.
It was a busy week this week that started off with a couple of major stories, a major sinus infection and a couple other maladies. However, I am feeling much better now and I am looking forward to week two. Now that I am starting to feel settled in, my head doesn't hurt so badly and with the happy anticipation of better sleep -- this next week can only be amazing.
But for now...... I am going to enjoy the rest of my weekend.
